Professional leadership skills on the way to becoming a Chief Digital Financial Officer

Masterclass CDFO

Finance managers have long ceased to be "bean counters" and can take on many roles in today's businesses: They are number crunchers, advisors to management and executives, and even internal sparring partners - but most importantly, they act as modern business partners, ensuring good business practices, regulatory compliance, and accurate internal and external reporting.

With advancing technologies, as well as changing business cultures and stakeholder expectations, we also see the need for the role of the future Chief Financial Officer to change. New technologies require new roles and tasks to be performed. For us, the CFO of the future must be one who can wear many types of hats – such as the one a data manager, the user of new technologies, the hat of visualization specialist, and the hat of storyteller. Tought and actions must fit an ever more digital environment. Thus CFOs need to become CDFOs.

Goals

  • You will learn what technological trends and developments have been taking place in the financial sectors in more recent years.
  • You will be able to classify technological trends and issues properly and determine which areas are meaningful and of necessity for your own area of responsibility.
  • You will learn about and deal with subject matter that were previously unrelated to the field of finance and that will most likely be of high relevance in the future.
  • Based on the contents, they formulate their own development and transfer goals for the individual area of responsibility (personal development matrix).

More information

The two-day masterclass is designed to be interactive, application-oriented, and aligned with personal development goals. The impulses of the lecturers will be personally reflected on in turn by the participants in different sessions and playfully incorporated and located in their work context.

It starts by looking at the current landscape of different but typical finance departments and their recent changes. For example, processes, technologies, structures, but also corporate cultures are examined from different perspectives. This is followed by a reflection on the participants’ own areas of responsibility and an identification of their own development opportunities. We then delve deeper into the subject of changing technologies in finance. In particular, aspects of modern data management in the financial sector and new processes in finance will be discussed here in moderated discussions – but the discussion of distributed ledger technologies (Blockchain & Co.) and their impact on the financial sector must not be missed here.

Day two will be dedicated exclusively to topics that have been less represented in the finance sector so far: starting with cyber risk management or the control of BOTs, new topics will be discussed together that will certainly find their way into many finance areas of the future. In the afternoon, the participants finally go on a creative journey and learn what demands are placed on usability and visualization in order to prepare complex numerical material in an appropriate and recipient-friendly manner.
