Since 2009, several thousand professionals from all industries have learned about Design Thinking on the Hasso Plattner Institute campus. Many already use the methods in their daily work and as part of innovation projects. At the same time, it has become apparent that many have the need to gain even more confidence in practical use under the guidance of experienced coaches.

The workshop is aimed at specialists and executives, team and project leaders, trainers and consultants, as well as employees from all industries who have already come into contact with Design Thinking and gained experience in its use (e.g. through an introductory course such as our Design Thinking Introduction).

Vor Ort
The participants work online on a Design Thinking challenge with the support of our experienced coaches. In the workshop you will use the design Thinking methods and tools that you are already familiar with from the Design Thinking process. The aim is to gain more security in the application, but also to critically reflect on previous experience with these tools and their specific implementation. In contrast to the workshop “Design Thinking Introduction,” our focus here is on the methodical tricks and challenges in the application of the methods.

1st day: Understanding the problem (Phase: Understand & Observe)
- Presentation of the participants and the Design Thinking challenge
- Application and reflection of interview techniques
- Documentation of interviews as “stories”

2nd day: Understanding the problem & solution space (Phase: Synthesis & Ideation)
- Application of synthesis tools such as the Persona, the User Journey, 2×2 matrix, Jobs to be Done or the Nugget Frame
- Joint reflection on the challenges of synthesis in user-centered projects
- Application and reflection of commonly used brainstorming methods

3rd day: Solution space (Phase: Prototyping)
- Application and reflection of prototyping methods
- Reflection of different prototyping methods with regard to various test scenarios
- Final reflection and overview of the entire process
