Contents of the workshop

Participants learn the basics of design thinking and become familiar with the key stages of this process: understanding and getting a feel for the needs of their internal and external stakeholders. Conducting interviews, using creativity techniques, and the topics of prototyping and testing are also covered. At the same time, participants build their capacity to initiate change in the management practices of their companies. They will receive practical tips on how to engage stakeholder groups within the organization in an innovation project and hone their own communication skills to convince and involve colleagues at all levels of the hierarchy.

In addition, workshop participants will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons further: An external guest speaker from the field will provide exciting and up-to-date insights from the areas of innovation and customer orientation.

The workshop takes an experiential, hands-on approach that emphasizes group work, interviews, prototyping, and testing as core components of the individual and collective learning process.

Agenda

Day 1

The workshop will start at the HPI Academy in Potsdam. Participants become familiar with the mindset of customer centricity and design thinking methods. The techniques learned are used and practiced directly in exchanges with potential users and customers. A joint networking event will conclude this Day.

Day 2

The focus of the second Day, during which we will remain on the HPI campus, will be on synthesizing the results of the user survey and developing and testing solutions with potential customers. In the evening there will be a so-called “peer-coaching session” and a joint happy hour.

Day 3

The third Day will take place on the ESMT campus in Berlin. We dedicate ourselves to the question of how we can successfully apply the learned techniques and practices in the company and use them for organizational change processes. A particular focus here is on internal networking and the right communication strategies.
