Practical introduction to artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Masterclass: AI Fundamentals

Artificial intelligence is now used in a wide variety of departments at companies in almost every industry and global market.

Very often, however, the term is used generically, without taking into account the different facets of the technology. In addition to machine learning, deep learning and visual computing, experts also include natural language processing and generation, speech recognition, image analysis and robotics in the discipline of artificial intelligence. While a decade ago only 12 of the world’s companies were using AI in some form, the rapid development of computing power has made artificial intelligence an almost indispensable part of everyday business.

The areas of application of AI are diverse: from data analysis of decision-making processes, process automation of existing business processes, chatbots, to AI as an essential component of new digital business models, speech processing, or even as a feature of products and services. Whereby the question arises here: How much AI needs to be in the product/service in the first place?

In addition to the technical development and the possibilities of AI, topics such as the sustainability of the technologies and models used are currently the focus of current discourse and represent a major challenge for implementation. This masterclass deals with the basic technology of AI, but also with current and possible deployment scenarios in the corporate environment.

Goals

  • Overview: Understand the developmental history of AI and how it is located in today and tomorrow, as well as the difference between “narrow” and “general” AI and the relationship between AI and machine learning.
  • “Supervised and unsupervised learning”: from supervised to unsupervised learning – clustering data, identifying anomalies and selecting the “right” models, and training regression models.
  • Deep Learning – Creating a first neural network incl. Training of a model
  • AI and algorithms – what is controllable and what is not and how human-machine interaction is evolving (HCI).
  • Assessing opportunities and risks of AI and machine learning in the context of business.
  • Exploration of business application opportunities with sustainability in mind
  • Development of an individual evaluation matrix for all participants as a starting or connecting point for their own or company-relevant project/product/service/experience

In this course, the first Day will cover the basics of Artificial Intelligence – here, the history of the emergence of AI, insights into the theory and important terms will be addressed. Subsequently, the participants will gain insight into the practice of. The instructor demonstrates development environments and current AI models, which are then applied and manipulated independently.

The second Day will focus on the use of AI in the enterprise. What are the ways in which a company can benefit from the use of these technologies? Case studies will be used to discuss how AI can contribute to the optimization of processes, the improvement of existing products and to the creation of new services and products.

Finally, it’s about our future with Kificial intelligence: What are the trends today, and what are they likely to be in the future? What is the significance of these developments for companies, our society and our environment?
