Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Agile Development
Get familiar with the advantages and differences of the three agile approaches.
This workshop aims at project managers, design thinking coaches and product owners who want to enable their teams to detect innovative solutions and implement them successfully.
The participants work in small teams and will be guided throughout the whole workshop by experts with long run project experience from both Design Thinking and agile development.
Together we will design an overview of the three agile approaches. In short teamwork phases, we try out an exemplary representation of each approach, without comprehensive methodical training.
What to expect
Experts from different fields introduce examples on how to apply Design Thinking and agile methods to develop innovations
First workshop day:
The first workshop day is dedicated to the positioning of the three different agile approaches: Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Scrum. All three approaches are suitable for different questions or projects in different development stages. Afterwards, participants will focus on Design Thinking.
A networking event concludes this day.
Start: 9.00 a.m. End: 8 p.m.
Second workshop day:
The focus of the second day is on the Lean Startup approach. Using industry standards such as the Business Model Canvas and the development of MVPs, participants work in teams on how to design and test new business models. Participants will also use case studies to discuss how other companies have developed new product strategies with Lean Startup.
Start: 9.00 a.m. End: 5 p.m.
Third workshop day:
The third day is devoted entirely to agile development. Participants get to know User Story Mapping, which presents a methodological focal point of agile development in the practical work of many companies. Well-elaborated user stories form the basis for a backlog with which agile teamwork is organized.
In a final reflection, the strengths and limitations of agile approaches are juxtaposed.

The second part of Holger Rhinow's series about storytelling is about how we can find approaches by talking about situations. Tell a story where you felt helpless: What did you do to get the situation under control again? The story explores a designated problem space. Stories invite us to think about the goal and to generate solutions. Existing solutions can be built upon and these can be specified and expanded.
