Both parties informed about their plans to jointly establish a new “Middle East Hub of Design Thinking” at the UAEU Science and Innovation Park in Al-Ain.

The new hub is expected to become the center for a growing design thinking community in the Arab world. It is the first of its kind in the Arab world and follows the model of the D-Schools at Stanford and Potsdam. The hub will be open to talented students, as well as professionals from business and civil society, who want to learn about the innovation method and the design thinking mindset.

The HPI Academy, as Center of Excellence for Professional Development, is concretely supporting the UAEU in the development of the Design Thinking Hub in all relevant dimensions. This includes the development of a state-of-the-art Design Thinking curriculum tailored to the UAEU’s specific needs, the selection and training of excellent Design Thinking faculty, and the establishment of a program management structure.

The Middle East Hub of Design Thinking will be a member of the Global Design Thinking Alliance (GDTA), a worldwide network of institutions that teach, research, and develop the methods and thinking of Design Thinking.
